AirPhil Express & PAL’s new GenSan flights skeds

Philippine Airlines and sister company AirPhil Express recently released new schedules for their flights to and from General Santos City which take effect on October 28, 2012 (for PAL) and October 28, 2012 (for APx).

The revised schedules will leave AirPhil Express with only one flight daily servicing the Tuna Capital with its Cebu-GenSan-Iloilo route.  Philippine Airlines will take over AirPhil Express‘ Iloilo-GenSan-Iloilo flight and its Manila-GenSan-Manila afternoon flights every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

This gives General Santos City through Philippine Airlines two flights in and out of Manila three times a week.

Nothing actually ground-breaking with this new arrangement.  They could have added flights out of GenSan to other destinations like Zamboanga and Clark instead.  I read from blogger Libotero however that, the swapping of flight schedules will also be  be timed with the reverting of AirPhil Express to its former name, PAL Express which it carried when it was just bought by the national carrier.

Whatever PAL’s reasons are, let’s expect PAL Express to be even more aggressive as a budget airline now that it carries the company’s flagship brand this time around.
